When choosing a course book for younger learners, we should take into account from which grade we introduce the series, how we will continue with a series for the higher grades, but most importantly whether the series is suitable for the age-group.

First cycle

If you are looking for a series for the first cycle, we recommend Young Stars. As this series follows the development of young learners, we recommend the level to be the same as the grade it is used in, though there can be one level difference. This is a dual-entry-level series that can be started with level 1 or level 3. Please note that level 1 doesn’t contain any reading or writing.

Second cycle

If you start using books from grade 4, it might be a good to start with Enter the Portal Starter. This book is designed with 4th graders in mind, and also allows you to continue with the Enter the Portal series until grade 9.

Alternatively, you can use the Young Stars series, from level 3

Language schools, bilingual & more intensive courses

For these students, we recommend Get Smart Plus, since this series has a quicker pace and reaches a higher level compared to other course books.
